So I was goofing around on the internet today, and I came across a picture of my old friends, the Power Rangers. Only I had no idea that's who they were, because they looked vastly different than they did when I was a little kid. Apparently, they've gone through several makeovers - er, perhaps "image changes" sounds more powerful and rangerly than "makeovers" - over the years, and now they are a lot different than I remember - namely, a lot flashier.

This got me thinking about other toys and icons from my past - had they all changed this much? Had they all shed their former selves and started changing their costumes and updating their hairstyles, and...er...exploring space?

I went on a search to find out just that. And if you grew up in the late 80s/early 90s like I did, dear reader, prepare for a blast from the past!

Power Rangers then:

Power Rangers now:

Polly Pocket then:

Polly Pocket now (who has somehow managed to age in reverse and grow larger at the same time):

Strawberry Shortcake then:

Strawberry Shortcake now (who went from cute to sort of scarily resembling a Bratz doll...and don't even get me started on those):

Barbie then:

Barbie now (I...just...have nothing to say):

And finally, My Little Pony then:

Aaaaand My Little Pony now:

Just kidding! Haha, this Edward Scissorhooves seems to be someone's very awesome art project. The *real* modern My Little Pony dolls actually look pretty similar to their early counterparts, which is comforting:

Some things never change. But some things do! And not for the better! Do you like the old or the new versions of these classic toys better? Let me know in the comments.

Have a wonderfully awesome day,

c
