Books, Beards, and Berlin: Forum Update!

Good morning/afternoon/evening/night to you all! (pick one) I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween! Or, if you didn't do Halloween, I hope you are planning on participating in the November festivities! Well, even with Halloween you should consider them.

Today I have a few things to talk about, and a few threads full of awesome that need to be recognized. In personal news, my NaNoWriMo project is coming along nicely… I just need to write about three thousand words today to make my missed quota of the last few days. >-> If you have a chapter or two that you think is pretty good, why not blog it? Or make a thread and get some advice/peer edits. Remember: You are not alone!

Alright; on to the first order of business. There have been several confirmed reports of low quality in the forums, and lack of interesting/new content. Have you noticed this? Are the reports true? Give us some feedback, tell any Ningmaster what we can do to help the situation. Our plan, along with John and Hank, is to increase members on this site, as well as the retention of you ladies and gentlemen. Give us your opinion! You may be able to indirectly change something for the better.

Onto the forum posts! I might argue that the aforementioned reports are wrong, because this stuff is pretty cool.

First up, we have the hairiest of all monthly activities, No Shave November. It’s a great activity, all in the name of health awareness. I have yet to shave since a bit before Halloween, and I’m starting to get rather itchy…

Next we have the lovely Love Potions thread. Any Harry Potter fan worth his/her salt knows that one whiff of the love potion will have you smelling those things closest to your heart. Does anyone else know of/love the smell of Xbox controllers?

Now to more serious business. Have you ever considered vegetarianism? How about Being Vegan? There are so many ways to look at the argument, but clearly the human race would be better off with less meat consumption. I agree with Hank’s corndog argument. Meat is delicious. So you might not be obligated to give it up, but at least take it down a notch.

You may also be wondering what NaNoWriMo means. It’s National Novel Writing Month! If you aren’t planning on writing, you should consider finding someone who is and offering your peer editing skills! Good luck to everyone else!

Lastly there is an anniversary of a monumental event in history. I’m terrible with history, so had no idea till this thread. Twenty years ago Monday The Berlin Wall fell. You don’t have to be a history major to know it’s a big deal. Drop in and share what you might be doing to commemorate the occasion!
