"No, no. That's not the way to go. You got to go slow.
If you wanna find a rhythm that is oh so nice,
If you wanna find a rhythm, you should take my advise.
If you wanna find a rhythm, I can show you the way.
Be like a duck. That's what I say.
Be like a duck. Be like a duck. Be like a duck. OK.
A duck is so friendly. A duck is so proud.
A duck is never ever just a face in the crowd.
A duck is so clever. A duck is so free.
Don't you wanna be just exactly like me.
Be like a duck. Be like a duck. Be like a duck.
You gotta walk the walk.
You gotta talk the talk
And when you wanna fly
You gotta take to the sky
And cruise.
Be like a duck. Yes, indeed.
Be like a duck. No need for speed.
Be like a duck. Like a duck. Cool
Maybe you stroll. Maybe you fly.
Or maybe just float and let the river run by.
When the rain starts fallin', let it roll of your back.
Open up your beak and go Quack, Quack, Quack.
Be like a duck. You don't have to fret.
Be like a duck. You can just get wet.
Be like a duck. Be like a duck. Be like a duck. Get down.
You gotta walk the walk.
You gotta talk the talk
And when you wanna fly
You gotta take to the sky
And cruise.
Maybe you stroll. Maybe you fly.
Or maybe just float and let the river run by.
When the rain starts fallin', let it roll off your back.
Open up your beak and go Quack, Quack, Quack.
Be like a duck. You don't have to fuss.
Be like a duck. You can be like us.
Be like a duck. Be like a duck. Be like a duck.
You gotta walk the walk.
You gotta talk the talk
And when you wanna fly
You gotta take to the sky
And cruise.
Gone.
Like a duck."
This song is 'Be Like a Duck' by Sandra Boynton. For those of you who don't know who Sandra Boynton, she is a writer of children's books. When I say children's books, I mean very young children. They're very small picture books. Each book would probably take about a minute to read, at most. As it says on Sandra Boynton's website, "In the time it would take you to read every book Sandra Boynton has written, and still have time left over, oh, learn italian or something. Plus or drawings are generally cuter than Tolstoy's." As evidenced by this song, Boynton is not a serious writer. She began writing children's books in 1977. She's a written a few books for adults. The one that I have read is "Chocolate: The Consuming Passion." She has a very distinctive illustration style. I'll show an example of her illustrations at the end of this blog. She began writing music around 1995. Her first album Rhinoceros Tap, was originally released in 1995 and then a "spiffier version" (her words) was released in 2004. SInce then she has released three other children's albums: Philadelphia Chickens (that's where this song comes from), Dog Train, and Blue Moo.
I'm going to give you a couple of links here. The first one is a music video that Sandra Boynton made of Be Like a Duck, so you can listen to it if you want. The second is Sandra Boynton's official website, in case you want to know more about her or her books.
