Want some free money? How about millions? Sound good? So why doesn't the government or its people want it? I am talking of course about changing the Dollar Bill to a Coin, getting rid of Pennies and nickels and changing the metal content of coins. You can read the article (listed below) but here is the break down: First: 1 Pennie cost 2 cents to make. 1 Nickel cost 11 cents to make. So these two coins just my themselves puts the government and its people 7 cents in the whole. Times that by millions and we can save a lot of dough. Second: Dollar bills have to be replaced every 4 or 5 years on average where the $1 Dollar coin can last 30 years. It cost a little more to make a coin 1$ (Bill= 7 cents, $1 coin=30 cents) but will last 15 -25 times longer. Finally if the government moved to multiplated steel for coins, it would save $200 million a year. Free money? We can have it but we need to help change it.
