With the mad rush of holidays and their impending doom upon us, nerdfighters are most likely gearing up to see family, friends, and be totally awesome. So, what kind of holiday or family traditions do nerdfighters partake in?

Do you make delightful cookies? Or just eat them? ;D
	Do you have Charlie Brown worthy tree issues? XD
Do you stay up to watch the candles burn down?
	Is it more fun decorating yourself than anything else?
Do you love the fact that you can make house elf rants that'll do more than confuse the mall Santa?
	Or is the best part being uber nerdy with those you love the most? :3 <3

Yay, the nerdy holiday cheer. So, nerdfighters, what are your traditions for this time of the year? Do you spend time with the family or spend your time boycotting Christmas or the holiday season as a whole? Let me know in the comments below please! I love stories :3

My family has a tradition in which late November my moms Christmas Village (akin to that in Let it Snow, actually, though my mom is considerably less obsessed about it than in the book) is put up, this building of the village signifies the start of the holiday season in my house. This year, unfortunately, furniture was rearranged and replaced and now we have nowhere to put the village, its halfway through December and it doesn't feel like the Christmas Season has begun at all... I haven't done any shopping or anything. O_o I didn't realize this affected our holiday so deeply until the year we don't have it!

my family has an annual "family film festival". every contestant must submit a short film related to a topic voted on the previous year. (this year is fairytales...) the films are then voted on in five different categories and trophies are awarded to the top three. the trophies themselves are things of beauty. they are old bowling trophies with spray-painted army men glued on top... a covetous prize indeed...

My family bakes. A LOT. We end up with five different kinds of cookies, and about fifty of each.
We give about half of them away, then we eat the rest.

My mom use to make there code names to put on our presents so we wouldn't know which ones to shake, we would spend the whole month trying to figure it out. My parents also always let my Sisters and I open 1 present each that they picked on Christmas eve, and then we would open everything else on Christmas. They are always pajamas with slippers.
We also bake lot of cookies and make tone of candy. Dipping stuff in chocolate is really fun!

My parents would always wrap a few of the christmas presents they bought and put them out early under the tree with "from santa" on them. They would tell my brother and I that they were empty, and if we touched them, santa wouldn't fill them. It worked wonderfully to keep my brother and I off the presents; we were always afraid of them staying empty if we touched them. We don't believe in santa anymore, but we still don't even touch the presents that are under the tree early. It became habit I quess.
My parents would also always let my brother and I open 1 present each that they picked on Christmas eve, and then we would open everything else on Christmas. They were almost always pajamas.

On Christmas Eve, my family makes lasanga. It bakes in the oven while we are at 4:30pm church. The house smells great when we get back home. Then we eat it. <3

In my family, we aren't very religious at all... So we celebrate the Winter Solstice. If you didn't know, it's the 'shortest' day of the year and is also the first day of winter! It awsome too because usually on the 20th, 21st, or 22nd so its always a little bit earlier. Does anyone do this? I have yet too meet someone!

Haha I love those pictures! I love the holidays... I relax, read books by the fire, and of course, always a christmas tree! Actually, my family is a lot more Jewish than christian, but we love the idea of christmas way too much to pass it up :P

my family will (a) watch Little Women (b) race to create the most impressive Ikea ginger-bread house avec play-mobile people and (c) go to the comic store in Soho and buy manga

My family has so many christmas traditions that it's difficult to remember all of them XD
The first Christmas movie of the season always has to be The Santa Clause, and we must make chocolate chip cookies while watching it.
When we get the tree, it might as well be tradition that my dad falls asleep right after putting it on the stand.
When we decorate our tree, we have to watch A Christmas Story.
When we go see the Nutcracker (we used to go down to the Kodak in hollywood to see it, but now that my sister dances, we go to her school/company's production, in town) we always have to goto Miceli's (italian restaurant) afterward.
The day after christmas my family comes over and we eat leftovers/ order mexican from the place down the street and play games.
We have 3 trees (although one is tiny and one is fake) so we usually spend a whole day just decorating trees.
And we have fake snow that we cover the lawn with every year. That also takes a whole day, often going on into the night, when all of us go in except my mom. She comes in later, usually with a mild case of hypothermia.
