Join A Harry Potter Alliance Chapter...

Calling all witches, wizards, and Muggles in years 1-7 ! The Dunwoody High School Chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance is seeking new members from other schools. Last year, our chapter donated 100 books, funded our school's recycling program, and donated $380 to assorted charities We’re really excited about our next year, and have some great projects in the works (a Yule Ball, movie marathons, and Harry Potter carnival). If you’re interested in joining our club, please email me at dobbyhassocks@gmail.com (or send an owl, that works too…). You do not need to have read the Harry Potter books, or seen the movies to join. Members can do as much or little as they want, and will receive an email discussing our upcoming events once every two weeks. If you have any suggestions for projects for us, don’t hesitate to let me know! High schoolers may apply for board positions—please email me for more information. Tell all your friends, and remember: “Nitwit, Blubber, Oddment, Tweak.”

Aw )-:
Actually, I've found that our HPA chapter has done a lot more than the Key Club (that may just be because my school's Key Club doesn't do much...) I'd definitely give it a try, it's A LOT more fun than Key Club. Let me know how it goes!

And HP lingo should be a required part of Spellcheck...

I'm in Michigan, so that would be a no to Atlanta, but thanks for the offer.  We already have Key Club for community service, so I'm not sure how many people would join, and we have a quidditch team for Harry Potter nerds too :D :D :D but I might start one anyway and see what happens.  Thanks a lot!

...bad computer.  It doesn't believe quidditch is a word.

Catherine--firstly, if you live in the Atlanta area, you're welcome to join our chapter. If you'd like to start a chapter of your own, I suggest you get together a group of friends who like Harry Potter and start publicizing through your school newsletter, putting up posters around the school, passing out flyers at any HP-related events or at your local library. I found that it's very difficult to explain to people exactly what the HPA is, and I think that the majority of my school believes that it's just a Harry Potter fanclub that I started. Definitely stress the community service part. My chapter has over 30 members, and my friend managed to recruit 67 members for her chapter from her school's orientation. Let me know if you need any other assistance or ideas, and feel free to email me at dobbyhassocks@gmail.com

I'm not from your school, but I am a member of HPA and I don't know if anyone else at my school is.  I was thinking of getting people involved and starting my own group, but I'm really unsure about how to do this.  Do you have any advice on how to get started or things to organize?
