My favorite web site: http://willallpreorderedcopiesofthefaultinourstarsbesigned.com/

In which John discusses the denomination effect and argues that we should stop printing one-dollar bills and transition to one-dollar (and two-dollar) coins, which according to the nonpartisan GAO will save the United States government 5.5 billion dollars over the next 30 years. (Also, John discusses loving the mountain goats and hating pennies.)

Canada has used a dollar coin for a long time, as well as a two dollar coin. A single dollar isn't used for much these days other than bus fare, laundromats, shopping carts, or vending machines. Even dollar stores are now mostly known as 1.25 stores. Soon we will be switching to plastic money and removing pennies some time later.

John (if you read this), should the US switch to the metric system? Do a video/question tuesday about it! :-)
