I know everyone has their own take on this arguement, and everyone who doesn't agree with me is going to accuse me of being a fanboy, and the giant squids of anger will go gworble shmorlge weeble dzorgle but I'm going to put my take on the arguement in anyway. Also please note some of my points may not be valid on continents other than North America because from what I hear Macs aren't nearly as popular in Europe as they are here (though I am pretty culturally ignorant, trying to change that.)
To start off, I would like to say that I have always used PCs. So if you're going to yell at me, there you go. However, I was fond of macs until recently when the people who run DOS above the clouds finished writing their object classes that created the mac fanboys I know and hate.
You see, I would just go around going, "Well, these are just our opinions, they have their ups and downs." However, due to the mac fan boys and girls, who go around bashing Windows, praising Steve Jobs and ignoring Linux (Ubuntu FTW!) I realized I had to be a Windows Fanboy, I couldn't really be independent. I'd like to start off by fighting the most recent comment I have heard from a mac fanboy regarding Windows 7's easier network sharing abilities: "So it's like OS 7, this technology's been around for 20 years! (hahaha)" Both operating systems have things the others don't. However, Windows has realized that they need to appeal to a new audience. Until recently, Macs were only ever bought be schools. The iPod was Apple's big break this century. Microsoft didn't (and didn't need to) incorporate the better points of the mac OS of the time into their operating system, because they were almost considered monopolizing the business. With Vista, they had been developing it since before Macs were popular, and when it came out. Many people switched, preferring Apple's user-friendly interface and easy-to-use programs. However, now that people are starting to use some of the Mac's superior features, Microsoft has decided to incorporate them into Windows 7.
Another arguement I've heard is that Windows has many useless programs nobody uses preinstalled that use up disk space. I don't have a particular arguement for this one, especially since the ignorance of the person who said this was obvious (when I called them on it, they said, "Everyone uses every program on a Mac! :)") If she's talking about the programs under the accessories tab in the all programs menu, I can assure you that you can find most of them on a Mac under, say, the SETTINGS interface. Another reason you might have what look like unused programs is because of the install WIZARD system Windows uses, whereas the programs to do this for Mac are not visible. While they both have their ups and downs, those people who blindly say that Macs are better than PCs for the reasons that they use Macs and macs do blahblahblah and etc. really need to be confronted by a wave of Giant Squids of Anger, and not with "Well blablabla to you to!" But seriously, GO LINUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
