Most people don't understand my life, and rather than trying to, some people just decide to be closed minded. There are many things about my life not to understand, so, in the name of opening people's minds and helping people understand, here goes, my first blog ever!

Things people don't understand about me:

I am dyslexic, I don't read or write.
I have 2 moms, my mum is divorced, and is now with an amazing woman!
I am Pagan, otherwise known as a witch.
I am unschooled,I have never been to school and I never planned to, I don't plan on college ether.
And of course, my huge love of Harry Potter, but I don't need to explain that one to you :-)
There are also a lot of smaller things people generally do not get, the way I dress, green living/organic eating etc.

So I thought I might explain some of the above, so people can begin to have a deeper understanding of each other!

First of all, my dyslexia. When my sister was 3 years old she learned how to read, I never learned how to read, I still don't know how. The woman who runs the American institute for dyslexia says that I am the most dyslexic person she has ever seen! To write, I use voice recognition software, it's not easy, and it makes some mistakes, so if you've noticed that in my writing, that's why. Two read things, online I use a program called confident reader, it reads anything textual online out loud. As far as my real life, I tried to get along as best I can. I pretend to be able to read sometimes, and other times I just tell people, but it's never easy. Sometimes they insist that I can, and I'm lying, and I have to prove to them that I can't. Even talking about it makes me want to cry, but I feel it's important for people to know, for people to understand each other. When I look at a book or letters, it looks like they are ice skating, moving at strange angles, right before my eyes!

As far as my moms go, all I can say is that the people that work against LGBT rights, there are not only hurting the parents, but the child as well. Ever since I was 6 years old all I have wanted is for my parents to be able to get married. When people say ignorant things, no matter what their reason, I know that my parents are two of the most loving people I know, and even though they are both women, they have created the best home environment for me, and no matter what anybody says, they can't take that away!

OK, now religion. I completely respect every single religion out there, but most religions do not show the same courtesy to me and my religion.
It is hard to be in a world based on Christianity, Christmas, Easter, Jesus, god, all the saints, but especially Saint Patrick's day! Did you ever hear that saint Patrick drove the the"snakes" out of Ireland? If you count people of my religion as snakes, then yes, he most certainly did! He murdered hundreds of people, and for it he became a"saint"! They were my ancestors, and he murdered them, so now every year on "saint" patrick's day, I wear all black in memory, wile everybody else wheres green,in celebration, and pride..." Pride"proud of a massacre? Or proud of being Irish? If the Irish want to have an Irish pride day, I say go for it, but not a day celebrating murder!

So, I've never been to school. No, it's not illegal. Yes, it is my choice. Before I was born my mother decided she wanted a different life for me, different than what everybody else gets. And that I have. If I wanted I could go to school, but I have NO desire!! I learn from life, and it teaches me well. I might not know what the square root of 43 is, but I do know the way I want to exist in this strange, and beautiful place we call home.

And that is why I feel so close to Luna, because we are both unwilling to change just two please others!

As for the other assorted details of my life, you would have to know me.

Kitashi,
Dyslexia: it looks like the letters and words move around, I can't properly focus on any of them, and they don't really look like they're going in straight lines. If you've ever seen a fisheye effect on a picture, that's kind of what it looks like. Sometimes I'll be staring at a specific letter, and I will actually watch it as it moved across the page, settling down in a different word. Weird, right?

Harry Potter: I listened to the audio books. They are narrated by Jim Dale, and he does an absolutely incredible performance! When I was six years old my sister read the first book out loud to me, but then after that I started listening to the audio books, because she was only nine, she didn't want to have to read the rest of the series to me, books get progressively longer. I watch the movies also, But not as obsessively as I "read" the books.

Gay rights: here here! Congratulations on being intelligent enough to see, and speak the truth :-)

St. Patrick: I completely agree about that most holidays being about consumerism. And I like the idea of people just taking holidays if they feel they need them. You're right, a lot of people don't know much about history, because in school, they don't teach you the truth about these things. How can anyone expect be expected to know the truth, if they've been told a lie for their whole lives? It bothers me when I see people celebrating St. Patrick's Day, but I know that they don't know what they are celebrating. I hope to share the truth of St. Patrick's Day with at least a small amount of people. Although I have at times been greeted with blank stares and "so what?"

School: Absolutely agree! There's no point in learning pointless, and often untrue facts, when you could be learning about something that is really important to you. I have spent a good portion of my years so far educating myself on Uganda, Darfur, Burma, the Congo, LGBT Rights, and other causes that are truly important to me, instead of learning the exact date of that battle.
Thanks for the great comment!

Clover,
Thanks! I share my life with some pretty amazing people! And I am fortunate enough to be,
for the most part, surrounded by people who love and accept me for who I am, and people who except my lifestyle. They are few and far between, and hard to come by, but I have found them!

What an interesting post! Your life does sound very different (and awesome) and I hope that you meet plenty of people who are able to celebrate those differences with you!
