Yeah, it's been a while again. I am so darn good at procrastinating. I should be "Tom, Procrastination Ningmaster". I'd be so good at it. ^_^
But over to the purpose of this blog post; the announcement of the new Ningmasters!
It was once again a difficult task to pick Ningmasters. Partly because there were so many applicants, partly because I don't know half of you as well as I'd like. :)
That's why picking Ningmasters involves a lot of talking to other people, get their view on the matter. After due consideration, I think I've selected a nice group of Ningmasters and moderators.
First we have Kathleen
. She and Geoffrey
will be the forum Ningmasters. They will be assisted by Jessica
, who will be a Moderator. They will, obviously, maintain the forums, feature discussions and, maybe write a blog post once in a while about what's going on in the forum or about discussions they've featured.
We'll rely on Katia
to browse the blogs posted and occasionally feature some interesting ones.
Our images Ningmaster will be Clive φ Davidson
. He'll feature images once a week or so, and I'm sure he'll come up with other interesting images-related ideas/projects to keep you guys entertained.
No one applied for the position of Videos Ningmaster, but Dave doesn't mind staying on, so that's not that big of a problem.
For the Projects, I'm appointing Haua
. She'll update the Projects page and feature some of them.
Books was a difficult decision, but after reading the blogs, looking at the comments, and talking about it, I think I've made an informed choice. Clover
will try and keep the Ning reading and will hopefully suggest good books for us to read.
The chat was another one of those tricky decisions to make. The Chat has always been a tricky one because it takes so much time. Sean was willing to stay on, and frankly, we can't have too many people moderating the chat, so I'll let him. He will be assisted by David J
, who kindly stepped in to help moderate the chat when we were short on moderators. He has done a very good job, so I'm making him a Ningmaster now.
Also moderating the chat will be Moderators; Daniel
will be great moderators, I'm sure. They may be joined later by other moderators, if the NM's feel the need, and they are of course in a prime spot to be promoted to Ningmaster. (If Sean decides to step down of if there really is a need for (an) additional Ningmaster(s). )
That pretty much sums it up. It only leaves me with the Miscellaneous category:
There was only one person who applied for a new position. Dan/TheLoneWanderer
has helped us out a fair bit already with chat difficulties. I see no reason not to appoint him as Programmer Ningmaster. That way he's even more useful solving technical difficulties in the chat, and he's developing a new chat because, frankly, the Ning chat kinda sucks.
But there's one more. Jonathan
applied as a photo/images Ningmaster, but we're looking for someone to maintain the 'photos' section and feature content there. Jonathan, being a photography student, went on the photography tour and suggested featuring photo blogs and giving photography tutorials and such. That sounds really interesting, and since I had only one other Misc. Ningmaster, Jonathan will be our Photography Ningmaster.
That concludes all the Ningmasters, I guess. Some of the old Ningmasters (not the ones mentioned above) will probably hang around behind the scenes, removing spam, solving problems, etc.
Congratulations to those selected, apologies to everyone I couldn't pick. Next time we need Ningmasters will probably be in January. Keep your eyes open though, in case the Ningmasters need any Moderators to assist them. (Chat or Forum). If you were selected, please send an e-mail to Ningmasters@gmail.com
, so we can establish a proper means of communication. No need to hurry, though, I probably won't get round to arranging this any further until Monday anyway.
Thanks to everyone who applied. Hopefully this batch of Ningmasters will make the Ning even more awesome! :)
