Comment by Ray Nerd on May 4, 2011 at 11:05pm I have had mixed feelings about this turn of events since I heard the news. He was the focal point of America's anger for a decade, and seeing him taken down gives a sense of closure to a chapter in American history. It has been difficult for me, however, to hear the way in which some of my fellow countrymen are almost bragging about 'getting him'. One news service has repeated a sound bite of an older woman who declares she wishes he had suffered more.
I find it hard to imagine any suffering more brutal than being shot in the eye, but my experience is limited.
History is generally written by the victors, which means there will be some perspectives that never come to light. A 9-11 survivor might have an opposing stance to someone from Southeast Asia, but both should be respected. Was it justice or revenge? It depends on who's writing the story. Hopefully, the international community will feel positive results from all of this. I fear it will take some time.
Meanwhile, I think I'll make sure Mario Cart is always playing in the background. That's really cool. BTW, Hank, you should drive as your own Mii. I'm guessing you have one.
