Hey, Nerdfighters. So, as many of you have probably seen already Ningmaster Tom has finally started accepting applications for new Ningmasters (again) (if you haven't already seen his blog and you'd like to just look right below this post on the main page). I'm not positive of when exactly he'll be announcing the new Ningmasters, but I'm assuming that they'll be announced before next Friday... maybe. I don't honestly know, but we're going to assume that this is probably, maybe, my last book blog (as a Ningmaster, because let's face it, I'm a nerd that's going to keep blogging about books for rest of my life). So, in honor of my last post I thought I'd briefly highlight some of my favorite projects that I've ever mentioned in this blog previously. If you discovered any awesome book related things through any of my blogs, or if you discovered one on your own or through someone else, feel free to leave a comment below telling me about it.
But before I get into any of that a quick reminder that the
Blurbing Book Club is reading "
Mockingjay" by Suzanne Collins until September 30th. Like I already said, I'm not sure when the new Ningmasters will be selected, but it will probably be before the end of the month. Thus, I can only assume that the new book Ningmaster will pick up right where we left off and select a few blurbs from the forum for you lovely people to vote on. Speaking of the forum, you can discuss and blurb "Mockingjay",
here.
Now without further ado, in no particular order, some of my favorite book related projects that Nerdfighters have been working on:
1.
The Guide to Nerdfighting. I think its fairly obviously that I love this project because I've blogged about it on several occasions. Basically, its going to be a book made up of stories, artwork, quotes, nerdfighter references, games, poems, and all kinds of awesome stuff that Nerdfighters have been submitting. One of the best parts, in my opinion at least, is that when the book is finally published (I believe their self-publishing) all the profits will go to the Bookwish foundation. If you'd like more information or if you want to submit something to the Guide you can do so,
here.
2.
The Novel Relocations Act. Most of us book nerds can relate to having too many books and not enough places to put them, but we all rectify this problem differently. Some of us go to used bookstores, some of us spend hours in our local libraries and some of us like, Myana, give them away to nerdfighters. Her project is simple, on her Youtube channel each week she reviews a book, and if any of her viewers want that book all they have to do is leave a comment/email her with their reason for wanting it. From there she selects someone to receive the book and the process continues with another book. You can find Myana's Youtube channel
here.
3.
"Chicken Butt: Story of a Man" by N.A. Kay. Several months ago N.A. Kay self published his novel and was nice enough to send me a .pdf of the story. Which I of course read. The thing is, when I sat down to read it I assumed it would be funny and clever and just an all around good story. It was, don't get me wrong, it was. But I didn't expect to relate, in any way, to a chicken. This was mistake, because after reading it, I couldn't help but compare my life to Chicken Butt's. The truth is that this is a well written, down-to-earth and frankly, brilliant story. So, good job N.A. Kay and thanks for being awesome. If you'd like to purchase the book click
here.
And last but certainly not least,
4.
"The Chronicles of Awesome" by Kevin and Malinda. Its simple, it's a literary magazine, and it's so... good. This is actually one of the more recent projects I've talked about so their actually only two Issues in, but I can definitely see it going places. I can't wait to read Issue 3 when it comes out and every Issue after that. You can find out more about it and download the first two Issue's
here.
I hope you've all enjoyed my book blogs, or at least have found out about some awesome book related projects that you enjoy. It's been fun, and uh... I'll see you around the ning.
DFTBA
