Dear people of the Ning,
I am blogging this to tell you about the upcoming EXILIAN ATHENIAD of 2012. This event, from 10 to 22 September, will feature a series of contests where entrants compete for honour, pride, glory, and muffins (okay, maybe not the muffins). Contests will include poetry, slam poetry, writing, gaming, chess and scrabble; atheniad teams are organised by website, so you can sign up to battle against other sites for the Ning!
The main control centre, with all details about how to sign up and participate, is here:

We're also looking for judges, so if you don't feel like competing but could help out, that would also be useful (again, link is above). Once some folk have signed up a Ning area in the athletes' village will be created for you all to use.
The Atheniad aims to bring people from all corners of the web together, regardless of race, gender, nationality, sexuality, or views on the existence of pandimensional muffins, in a spirit of friendly competition - testing our skills at art and writing as well as having good fun on the gaming arena. As such, it would be fantastic to see many Nerdfighters taking part. Hope to see you all there!

Comment by James Baillie on August 29, 2012 at 2:28pm The details are all at the link. There are no particular themes for any of the events, there will be independent volunteer judging panels to judge the best entries.
Comment by Vertigo_One [Ops Mod] on August 28, 2012 at 8:55am Just a brief question, I notice it talks about writing contests. How will these be organised? Will there be themes/prompts etc? Or what?
