Vote and Win $5,000 to Save Child Soldiers!

Africa’s longest running war is currently raging in Uganda. It’s a war between Joseph Kony, the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army, and the Ugandan government. What makes this war so horrendous is that the LRA (Lord’s Resistance Army) kidnaps and basically enslaves Ugandan children, aged 9, 10, and 11, as soldiers and force them to kill and fight in a war they have no choice in. This war is lacking in media attention and intervention from other countries. On December 28, 2008, the Ugandan army accused LRA rebels of hacking to death 45 people in a church in northeastern Democratic Republic of Congo. "There are body parts everywhere. Inside the church, the entrance and in the church compound," an aid official said.

There is an organization, however, called Invisible Children, whose goal is to raise awareness about these massacres, gain media attention, and to put a STOP to Joseph Kony, release the child soldiers, and help prevent Ugandan children from being kidnapped.

As some of you may know, I’ve entered the 15 Seconds of Fame contest on if.net showing some of my artwork. The grand prize for the winner of the contest is $10,000. If my video wins the grand prize I will donate $5,000 to Invisible Children and other money to other various charities. This is where the Nerdfighters come in. The videos are scored on votes and the more votes a video gets per day, the more of a chance it has to increase the ranking.

People can vote on their favorite video once a day, EVERY DAY until the end of the contest on May 15, 2009. Right now, my video is 36th in the Nation but with the Nerdfighter’s help, I know we can bump it up to first place and save some children from their horrible situations. If any of you vlog, you should make a video about this and post it as a video reply to my YouTube video.
