And you're questions really aren't that strange. I've heard much weirder. For a long time people thought Latter-Day Saints had horns and tails... and poeple have honestly asked me if I did. :)

Most of the disasters that are talked in the Bible are really happening now: Wars, Rumors of Wars, Natural Disasters.

And I'm not sure if all Christians believe the same way we do. That's something kind of funny about Christianity, we all believe very different stuff from each other. :)

We're called Saints, because a Saint is someone who is trying as hard as they can to get closer to God, and we believe that Jesus Christ will come again fairly soon. No one knows when, and it actually says in scripture that no one will know the exact time. And since He's coming soon we live in what's called "the last days" or "the latter days". So, we're The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Does that answer your question better than my random guesses? :)

We believe that God is our Eternal Father, we believe in His son Jesus Christ, and that there's a Holy Ghost who testifies of them both. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it's translated correctly, and that there was a book of scripture written in the America's called the Book of Mormon. We believe that we are saved by both faith and works. That we do the best we can to be the best we can, but in the end it takes the grace of Jesus Christ to make us into what God wants us to be. We also believe there is a living prophet on the earth right now, his name is Thomas S. Monson. He's a prophet, just like Moses, or Noah.

As for the kind of people we are: Most people say we're really different. We don't drink alcohol, or smoke/chew tobacco, or do any kind of non-medicinal drug. We believe in not having pre-marital sex and staying faithful to our spouse after marriage. People tell us we seem really happy... and in general we really are. Granted, we have problems just like everyone, but we feel like we have a perspective that helps us see the problems in the best light possible.

Marriage, in my mind, has more to it than creating offspring, but I do agree that churches should have the right to marry and adopt to whom they choose, based on what they believe to be right. If there was some way to guarantee this, I really don't think I'd have any real problem with Gay-marriage, apart from the the fact that I believe it's wrong, but I would have a hard time forcing my beliefs on others, especially if I were gueranteed that they wouldn't force back.

I was actually for Prop 8, though I dont' live in CA so my thoughts really didn't matter much as far as the election went. The nerdfighter community is certainly Pro-Gay rights overall and I was just wondering if anyone had the guts to go against what the majority believed, not trolls so much of course, but people willing to be part of an open and honest debate. There just aren't many of us "right-wing nut jobs" who are. =D
