I havn't seen Star Trek the movie yet, But I did go to the Star Trek exhibition in Detroit with my Dad, One word Awesome. I got to sit in Kirk's Chair! and Get teleported and stuff. I also got these coool Star Trek Lego People! I went on the Star Trek simulator where you got to fight the borg that was pretty Effin' shweet... uh yeah...
I absolutely adored the Star Trek movie. All of the characters were fantastic, my favorites being Scottie, McCoy, and the Russian kid. The romance between Uhura and Spock was weird and unexpected, but I liked it. Kirk made me swoon, even while he was getting his ass kicked, times three. The special effects were amazing, and even my special-effect critic friend approved. The funny bits were indeed, very funny. There was a really good balance between the humor, romance, moral stuff, friendship stuff, and action. Over all, a nine out of ten. It lost a point because i am not a big fan of time travel in movies. Still fantabulous though! DFTBA and Live long and prosper!
My opinion on the new Star Trek movie was that over all it was nerdfitastic.
I, too, was nervous going into the movie because I didn't want Hollywood to ruin my childhood hero: Mr. Spock. But they didn't! I thought Mr. Zachary Quinto did a wonderful job at playing the young Vulcan.
And then they threw Mr. Leonard Nimoy in and I had a nerd-girl heart attack.
I thought it would have been nice if Mr. William Shatner had a cameo in the movie, but you can’t win them all.
I hope they make more movies like this on.
hank,
i wanted to give my opinions on star trek. i went to see it today and watched your video. i agree with you on the whole movie magic part. they did always seem to be in the right place. but my real problem was with the spock thing. there has got to be a paradox there somehow. it seems a little too perfect. i dont know...wouldnt that be the grandfather paradox? if older spock goes back in time and changes the future by eliminating the other guys and thus eliminating his reason of helping kirk defeat them wouldnt he be gone? or is it because he personally never does the deafeating that it works? it just doesnt feel right. can anyone explain how this can work?
Hank, I just joined last night but dont think that means i have not been a nerdfighter for very long. I've been watching for about a year now....i just don't join internet things very often. I dont know why, I'm just lazy i guess. but but but but but! thats not the point of this. I only bring it up because I am new to nerdfighters.com and do not know how to make a comment directly on a vlog. (I haven't joined youtube either)
I completely agree with your comments on Star Trek. As a long time fan i feel they did an amazing job. they found a way to start something new yet keep what fans loved from before. I also agree with the plot holes you brought up. I never understood how, in the show, no matter where they went on a planet they were always right in the capital, there was something they needed to do, and there was one governing body for an entire planet..or religion...or culture. (the same would go for StarGate's, Dr. Who's, Sliders exc.) It seems to be an sci fi staple. One that I'm totally fine with, mind you. In a lot of ways i liked how the movie was aware of the show and poke fun of it in a subtle way.(red shirts/ green ladies)
The one thing I did want to point put, and seriously don't think I'm just saying this to be a dick- I didn't join just to make this dickish comment i joined first and then watched your vlog and was like "i have something to say on that matter"-, did you plug shows on youtube? I thought you were against "youtube being hulu." Really, i dont mean to be a dick. It was just something I'd like to hear your response on.
Seriously-not being a naysayer- I love being a nerdfighter

Hank!! Happy birthday!!! I am, and most likely always will be really bad at all of these birthday wish things, and they always come out sounding incredibly cliche. But anyway. Again, Happy Birthday Hank! and as always, DFTBA :)
