The question is often posed to atheists, “If you don’t believe in god, why are you so concerned with religion?”. It sounds a perfectly reasonable enough question; why worry about something we don’t consider ourselves to have a stake in? Why do we know so much more about religious issues, on average, than most people who actually believe the things we’re talking about? Normally, the question is asked rhetorically, with the given response (from the questioner, obviously) being that we are not only…

I'm bored and feel like being semi-productive. Enjoy and learn.
The Atheist Test
The theory of evolution of the Coca Cola can.
Billions of years ago, a big bang produced a large rock. As the rock cooled, sweet brown liquid formed on its surface. As time passed, aluminum formed itself into a can, a lid, and a tab. Millions of years later, red and white paint fell from the sky, and formed itself into the word "Coca Cola…12 fluid ounces."

So after any given discussion, debate, argument, fight, etc. over my religious beliefs, there always seems to be one burning question in everyone's mind: why, despite the prejudice and hatred associated with it, do I remain an atheist? Seeing as it's a perfectly reasonable question, I've spent a lot of time of late pondering this very issue: why do I put up with all the bullshit I get from telling my answer on one of the most basic of questions around?

Due to several requests, I have decided to write down what my feelings on religion are, specifically as they relate to the Judeo-Christian beliefs. This is due mostly to people asking for specification of what I think, i.e. "what kind of atheist are you?", but also due to the date, April 1. I mentioned in an earlier…

There is no God. That is my primary religious belief. That being said, I don't have any problem with people believeing in God, given some realism. My problem is not with religion itself, but with the way most churches work. I can't stand when people believe something because that's all they've been taught to know. That's known as brainwashing. Churches and most American families (to my knowledge) bring children up believing they have an omnipotent father figure watching all that they do, and the…
