What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
Webcomics/story writing/ Guitar Hero rocking/ music loving/ book reading/ myth busting/ coffe addicted NF
About Me:
I'd always hoped I was a nerd, and low and behold, I took a nifty nerd test and found out that I am! I love books, and music, and web comics. Of these, I particularly love fantasy and YA lit (Libba Bray = love), rock, and Girl Genius which is awesome steam-punk fantasy and is highly under-rated. I'm working on my own web comic which as soon as I have a functional website, I'll link here. Writing fantasy and making decoupage boxes are some of my favorite activities. I have a fondness for cats, shiny things, bizarre hair colors, my violin, tiramisu, and writing poignant book quotes on my walls to greet me in the morning. I'm currently giving in to a growing coffee addiction.
Favorite Books
Some of my favorite books: All things Libba Bray, Cornelia Funke's Ink series, Wicked and Son of a Witch, Madeline L'Engle's Time Quintet, the Artemis Fowl series, Touch Not The Cat by Mary Stuart, His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, Saving Fish From Drowning by Amy Tan, the Mayfair Witch books by Anne Rice, and all things Lovecraft-ian and Stephen King-ish (totally groovin' on the Dark Tower Series).
What's your favoite thing to put on your head?
My Cat Hat!
If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?
In a perfect world, Libba Bray or Daniel Radcliff

Maria D's Blog

In which Maria speaks of college, Twilight, apartment hunting, and other adventures.

Ok, suffice to say that I'm a horrible blogger with no common decency in regard to web etiquette,I return to you at last. I could bore you with the horror stories of my grandfathers' final descent into madness, but all anyone can offer me at this point is sympathy which I already have surfeit of. Instead, I shall bore you with the news of my recent adventures, starting with college. I'm starting it. Go Me!!! I'm at a community college, but ya know? Who the hell cares? It's college. I'm a… Continue

Sexual Ambiguity

All this talk of homosexuality with regards to Day of Silence has gotten me thinking about my own sexuality. In short, I don't know what I am. Maybe I'm gay, maybe I'm straight. In all probability, I could be bi. At the moment, I'm A-sexual. I really don't feel attracted to anyone physically. Oh sure, I appreciate when someone is attractive, but regardless of the gender, it's never more than appreciating beauty, like looking at a piece of art. I started questioning my sexuality in 4th grade whe… Continue

Aurora's Racial Rant

I've been meaning to post about the various shenanigans going on at my mom's school. Well, without my even prodding her to do so, a friends and colleague has rather succinctly done so for me. The ever-fabulous Aurora Delacroix has sent me her latest blog entry (now if only she'd link me to her blog!) and given me permission to share it with all of you! Be grateful. While you don't have to agree with what's said within, please be respectful of the experiences, sentiment, and injustices which prom… Continue

I've been spending most of the past month hanging out on the discussion boards instead of blogging. It's not for a lack of having anything to say, but more of a lack of articulation for those points. My biggest irritation in that regard goes towards the situation in Tibet. If anyone read my comments on the Tibet forum topic, I fear I may have misrepresented myself. I believe in the power of protests. There have been instances where I was the instigator. If there are any rallies or protests that… Continue

The Months of February and March Part 1: teh useless tings

Long last few weeks. Busy, but good. I think. I've gotten to read a number of books: Artemis Fowl Book 5 by Eoin Colfer; The Seer and The Sword by Victoria Hanley(been wanting to read this for years after reading a fanfic modeled after it); The Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson, my first Maureen Johnson book -next up, Devilish and 13LBE; and at the moment, I've started My Boring-Ass Life: The Uncomfortably Candid Diary of Kevin Smith. I've also managed to sqeeze in a few a few movies. Numero… Continue

Girl Genius is one of my absolute favorite comics. Have you ever read any of their older stuff? Like What's New with Phil and Dixie?
