- Once upon a time there was a man named Tristian, who was, unfortunately, lost. He sat at the bar in McCleary's Pub in Detroit. He'd just gotten off his train from Jersey. A long trip, but he didn't fly anymore. No, he'd rather cross a highway full of cars than get on a plane ever since the accident. 2 years, 4 months, and 18 days later...and he still couldn't move on. He could barely remember what it was like to not be looking at the bottom of a beer glass at the end of the day.
"Bartender!" he yelled, maybe a little too loudly for the now emptying bar. The bartender remained with his back to Tristian.
"No more for you, man. You were toasted an hour ago. Don't you have somewhere to go home to?"
Tristian looked down into the last dregs of his beer. "Not anymore," he said quietly, and drained his glass.
He got up from the bar and walked to the door. He thought briefly about just staying in Detroit. What did he have to lose? But, as soon as the thought entered his mind, it was gone again. He was just staying the night. In the morning it was on to whatever city caught his eye first at the train station. Getting as far away as possible was the only thing he thing he was worried about. He just needed to to forget.
As he walked the street outside of the bar, much to his dismay, he found himself thinking about her. He tired to focus on one memory. The day they were at the bus station and she...
