What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
English and Debate
About Me:
My name is Manar. I'm in high school. I'm a fairly religious Muslim girl. I procrastinate a lot, and I love to read. Looking for Alaska is my absolute favorite book, and it is what led me to nerdfighter-dom.
I've watched vlogbrothers since January 2007, but I've mostly been a lurker until maybe a month ago (which, at this time, would be February 2009).
Nonetheless, despite a lack of participation until recent times, being a nerdfighter has pretty much changed my life. =) Being constantly surrounded by awesome makes everything awesome.

Contact/stalking stuff...
My youtube and blogtv are primarily for commenting purposes, but they are:
youtube: thelastgoodkiss21
blogtv: thelastgoodkiss
twitter: thelastgoodkiss
And that is because I like the poem (Degrees of Gray in Philipsburg by Richard Hugo). I've never read the book (although I've heard it's great and I intend to eventually).
Favorite Books, Movies, Music, and more
All of John Green's books (obviously), but Looking For Alaska in particular
The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart
Little Brother by Cory Doctorow
The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan
Harry Potter
The Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan
Anything by Meg Cabot
Anything by Tamora Pierce
The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
The Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer

And many many more. I would keep listing, but it would take forever.
What's your favorite thing to put on your head?
Bags. But not plastic ones.
If you could do your happy dance with anyone who would it be with?
That's tough. I don't know. The vlogbrothers and anyone else who makes me happy?
When did you start watching the Vlogbrothers?

Manar's Blog

Frustrated (this is a post that I'd almost prefer you didn't read)

Lol. So I wrote this (title included) a long time ago, but I never finished the post, nor did I publish it. I was rereading it now, and I was just kind of amused by it, so I decided to publish it anyway. It's incomplete, but I honestly don't remember what I was going to write after the point where I stopped...

Seriously, it is COMPLETELY unnecessary to read this. This is far more for my benefit than for anyone else's. I just need to vent, because I'm so close to losing it… Continue

Okay, I know that I disappeared...and in the middle of BEDA.

I'm sorry, especially to my BEDA buddies. But, well, I had a sudden surge of schoolwork and other things and the first day of April that I missed I had a legitimate excuse (my computer wasn't working), but then I didn't post the next day, and then I was busy, and then I had been gone so long that I felt embarassed about coming back, and blah blah blah, things snowballed into me disappearing.

So, I'm… Continue

I had such an amazing weekend. It pays to be a nerd. It really, really does.

Okay, so...let me start from the beginning, because I don't know if I've ever explained this properly. If I have, then you get the luxury of feeling smug about your superior knowledge about my life. If I haven't, then now you will know! It's a win-win situation.

In Texas, where I live, there is a "league" known as the University Interscholastic League--or UIL. UIL has several competitions in many… Continue

EDIT: When I wrote this blog, I didn't expect myself to stay up until three in the morning Thursday night/Friday morning, therefore rendering myself perfectly capable of blogging on Friday.

Okay, so I'm writing this blog on Thursday evening. I will tell my computer to publish it on Friday morning.

There are two reasons that I am writing this right now:

1) I will be in a land without internet for all of Friday...excepting the early morning, before I leave for school.… Continue

The Tranquil Mind

I suppose that it's technically Friday morning now. It's like 2:30 a.m.

I'm not really sure why I'm still awake right now. I'm tired.

I could be sleeping, studying, or doing homework.

But instead I'm just lying awake. And I don't know why.

I just feel still, I guess. Eerily still. Like...if-I-fall-asleep-the-world-might-disappear-around-me still.

I just feel as if I need to stay awake and stare at the too-dark-to-see ceiling instead of closing my eyes and… Continue
