Sean Lindsay replied to Darth Maddicus's discussion Social Networking
"That's a good point, Eystein.  Biofeedback-type technologies are improving at a dramatic rate, which is exemplified by your linked video (by the way, I want one!).  There are even small games out that operate on simple…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Darth Maddicus's discussion Social Networking
"I'm not a big fan of home schooling myself for many of the same reasons I listed with my social network discussion, and for a good number of others. I guess the questions would be: 1) Is the social environment as school sufficient; and 2) with…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Darth Maddicus's discussion Social Networking
"I agree that it is not destroying today's society, but rather is just part of the drift of how societies change and develop through time.  However, there is some concern about the ability to be communicatively social through only the…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Jonathan Jenkins's discussion why is religion still around
"No worries.  I just wanted to put that since it is a common misconception in Evolution.  While you were on the up and up, other readers of this thread might not have been."

Sean Lindsay replied to Jonathan Jenkins's discussion why is religion still around
"Point of clarity:  Human's did not evolve from modern monkeys.  Modern monkeys, apes, and humans evolved from a common ancestor that was neither modern monkey, ape, or human, yet still a primate.  For example, you have the…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Ashley Huddleston's discussion Your Opinion On Christianity?
"It's hard to argue against a primary source like that.  I found the same source in previous discussions, but I'll post it again if anyone here missed Hutch's original posting of…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Vertigo_One [Ops Mod]'s discussion The problem, and danger, with the Chick-Fil-A boycott
"Chick-fil-A Inc. is indeed a private company (something I failed to acknowledge earlier), which means that it is owned and operated by the Cathy family.  So, in this case, the actions of the family and the actions of the company (when using the…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Vertigo_One [Ops Mod]'s discussion The problem, and danger, with the Chick-Fil-A boycott
"Then it's the action of a collection of people, acting with their money. It still cannot be seen as the corporation itself. That collection of people is the corporation.  Not discriminating in their restaurants does not fully define the…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Vertigo_One [Ops Mod]'s discussion The problem, and danger, with the Chick-Fil-A boycott
"There has yet to be any proof that the donations to the anti-gay groups have stopped.  The 2011 IRS forms have not yet been released.  The CEO definitely owns many of the Chick-fil-A shares, but so do a lot of other people.  When…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Vertigo_One [Ops Mod]'s discussion The problem, and danger, with the Chick-Fil-A boycott
"My earlier post seems to have been skipped over.  I hope that it gets read, but I'll summarize and add a bit here.  The donations were made by Chick-fil-A Inc. as a corporation; other donations were made by the foundner, S. Truett…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Vertigo_One [Ops Mod]'s discussion The problem, and danger, with the Chick-Fil-A boycott
"I'll make this quick and to the point.  1) The profits of a company belong to the share holders.  The CEO most certainly owns a good number of those shares, but not all of them.  2) Chick-fil-a Inc. most certainly donated money…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Vertigo_One [Ops Mod]'s discussion Homechurch leaders charged in...the USA?
"With most of these cases, I would agree with you, but the one that really has me concerned is where a woman had city officals come round here house asking questions like "Do you Pray?" That's really unnessecarily intrusive. The state…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Vertigo_One [Ops Mod]'s discussion Homechurch leaders charged in...the USA?
"The main issue that Vertigo is bringing forth is the use of religious activities and groups being mentioned in the various laws.   I am not a legal expert, but my understanding on why religion is explicitly mentioned in such laws…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Ben Attwood's discussion Which is our best alternative to fossil fuels
"Well said, Emil.  The past century has operated on a 'energy sources will never run out' attitude, which has seeped its way into the basic ways that much of the developed world operate.  The result has been a lot of waste, and…"

Sean Lindsay replied to Ben Attwood's discussion Which is our best alternative to fossil fuels
"Here's what I hope is going to be unfolding for our energy production and storage over the next decade(s).   The first step is a better and more efficient form of energy production through liquid fluoride thorium reactors (LIFTRs), which…"

What Kind of Nerdfighter Are You?
Science Mercenary
About Me:
I'm a planetary scientist with a passion for science, knowledge, and wonder about how cool the universe really is. I suffer and benefit from being a self-described polymath with an ever rotating set of interests that always seem to focus on understanding how and why things are they way they are. My ambitions are to become a high school teacher after several years working as a planetary astronomer/astromineralogist where I am striving to put together a logical physical explanation for the processes involved with the formation of our and other Solar Systems
