Hi Guys!

Thanks for showing interest in the Brisbane Nerdfighters!

This is just a bit of an update about what happened in the previous meeting and the details and agenda of the next one!

Previous meeting went really well! We decided the name of ‘NIB’ short for Nerdfighting in Brisbane (acronyms for the win!), discussed at length how difficult it would be to steal a stuffed hippopotamus from the museum, people with weird names and possible field trips.

We agreed on “the edge” being our regular meeting place, however we discovered that if you don’t know what your looking for it can be incredibly hard to find. I will be including a map with all future event invitations so that we don’t get more people like me walking in and out of elevators until someone asks if “you need some help?” *embarrassed face*

possible trips include planetarium, medieval fair (in bli bli), underwater world, a zoo, gold class at victoria point (its super-duper cheap!), also super nova next year :)

The project for awesome is coming up on the 17th of December which about a fortnight away, we would love for everyone to make the effort to contribute this year, whether you are a first timer or a seasoned professional :) at the next meeting I was hoping to throw around some video and charity ideas, hopefully we can come up with something that is so jokes!

Youtube channel
On that note, there was an idea of having a Brisbane Nerdfighters youtube channel, discussions about this are open as I am unsure as to how it would work, possibly it would be better to have a website or something instead, as im sure we all have personal channels. However, I have no idea and could be totally wrong so let me know! If you would be interested in doing something like this and cannot attend the next gathering let me know and I will bring your ideas to the table :)

Website
As previously mentioned I would love to have a website for this endeavour but I have no idea how to go about that, if anyone knows how to do this or knows someone who knows someone, if you could find out any info you can it would be most appreciated :) currently there is a 'webs' website, http://nerdfightersinbrisbane.webs.com/ kind of like the ning but not as cool.. mostly because i don't know how to code... if anyone has this skills to make it less templatey please let me know, also if you notice anything weird which needs fixed drop me a line and ill have a look into it.


also if you could take the time to become a member on there it would be great as im hoping to be sending these emails from there in the future.

Educational times.
The next meeting will be Origami themed, by themed I mean, we will have paper, and learn how to fold things.


the next meeting will be held on the 15th of December in the edge window bay 5 (same as last time) at 6pm sharp :)

as promised the map is below, as you can see the edge isn't actually a part of the main building, which makes it confusing, once your in there look for the red head and you should be fine :) if not ask one of the staff for bay 5 and they should be able to help you out!
